David has an extensive background in management and logistics with a focus on strategic level planning and direction. He is a leader and manager who understands the demands and challenges of the present day business environment. A former military officer, he is an experienced commander with operational experience. He has held senior management positions in the Australian public sector for many years. He has been involved in the development of some important public sector administrative reforms and has been a director of a number of companies and organizations.
He is a strong believer in the value of a skilled, committed management team and a well-trained workforce to achieve a competitive edge.
David was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 1997 for exceptional service as the Army’s Director of Capital Procurement.
David is presently an independent consultant in the fields of strategic management planning, leadership development, mentoring, purchasing and logistics. In this capacity he has been able to work with a range of respected companies and organizations in Australia as well as being invited to speak at professional development seminars in Australia, Vietnam and the Middle East. David is a director of Logistics Consulting International Pty Ltd, which provides a wide range of management and logistic consulting and training services in Australia, China and the Middle East.
He is an enthusiastic adventurer who has planned and led many white water expeditions and other adventure training activities in Australia and other Countries. David has a thorough understanding of the positive benefits of adventure-based training programs for personal development and team building. This expertise has been built on many years experience as a leader and manager who employed these techniques as aids to developing innovative, competitive organizations.
David has a Corporate Director’s Diploma from the UNE/CDA, an Advanced Certificate in Public Administration from RMIT and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment. He has completed the University of Michigan University /Chisholm Institute (David Syme Business School) Logistic Management Executive Development Program and a number of residential courses in inventory management, warehousing and distribution, management theory, applied management, and advanced management technique and is a qualified white water raft guide.
He is a Senior Fellow of the Corporate Director’s Association and a Member of the Australian Institute of Management. He was the founding President of the Australian Army White Water Association.
